I've been greatly entertained this week by these photos from Ben
Crawshaw the Light Trow builder.
They show a cardboard model he's made of the Julie skiff.

Hi Chuck,
I think you will find an article in the local paper here in Jacksonville FL interesting. The oddest thing is the way these boats were constructed.

Beautiful canoe made of recycled chop sticks in Japan.
Fun!

Here is a video of the launch of one of Michael Storer's Beth Canoe Yawls - this one built by David Goetz.

I finally completed the page about the construction of my really cheap
canoe. Keep up the good work with duckworks!

This video is good. It can be used as a guide to create a name plate for a boat in one piece, which can be cut on a scroll saw. A good alternative to painting or glueing separate letters I think.

There is a new issue of Classic Yacht Magazine out. There is a good article on the Trans-Pacific Rally beginning on page 75.
Chuck:
Maybe you guys have already seen this article from USA Today.

I've just watched Melonseed, the Movie and Heavy Weather on the Crawford MS site. Looks like I picked a winner. The description of wind forces on the sail in the text below the Heavy Weather video is quite interesting. Looks like I'll have to get this baby finished before too long!

I found some interesting info and data on some of the glues, woods,
preservatives and coatings used in boatbuilding. Must read on
most items.

Perry Burton way up north is building a John Welsford Pathfinder and blogging the build here.
Alan C in the UK is also building a Pathfinder and blogging it.
The Baywood Navy website has been updated with corrected December and January tide information.
Also, on the front page, you will find the exciting story of near disaster on the Back Bay by Jack.
These guys have some impressive looking model boats for sale. Many are ready for radio controls.
Here is an interesting video. It is really an advertisment for a DVD, but the cost of the disk is quite reasonable and it shows you how to build three, low cost, underwater video camera housings for snorkeling.
