Sometimes we get submissions that are interesting but already posted somewhere else on the web. We also spot sites that seem like something Duckworks readers would want to see. These are either blogs or personal websites or even business sites. We used to edit them for use here but there are just too many to repost and besides there is plenty of original material for Duckworks. So we decided to start a monthly page dedicated to these websites. Welcome to the first Webwatch. If you know of a website that would be of interest to our readers, please send me a link - chuck.leinweber@gmail.com

Our friend Gavin Atkin has begun a regular blog dedicated to boating in Great Britain. Thick with history and delightful pictures, this should be a daily stop for anyone interested in small boats.

Shorty sent a link to this story on his website. It's from his friend Cleon McClain, a circumnavigator himself who went to see John Guzzwell's Trekka.

Also from Shorty, "Starcatcher & Moldy Duck" by John Herr - an inspiring story of two kids learning to sail their PDRacers almost instantly.

Bruce Dillahunty's blog has the slogan: "Boat design, home building, and cruising in a nutshell", but I am particularly interested in his ongoing Origami folding dinghy project.

What did I say about John Welsford designs? Rick Fletcher is building a Joansa in Australia and documenting it on his website.

The festival was very nice. Some works of art were present as well as some plain old wooden boats that didn't make me feel too bad about my own wood butchering skills. Some kind folks even came down from Maryland (I believe) with kite materials for the kids. After the show we took the kites to a nearby beach and had a grand time. We even had free fresh clam chowder courtesy of some folks from Cedar Key.

Unfortunately, I missed seeing Robb White. His presentation wasn't til my kids bedtime so we headed home thinking that we would have another opportunity to hear him speak in person.... Yet another instance where one is shown that life is transient and needs to be taken a hold of right now.
