I'm a 18th century sailor reenactor of Nelson's Navy I portray a sail maker & a masters mate. I make period correct sea bags, deck buckets, mend sails & the such so cotton & linen cord are near & dear to me ;).
I did get the cotton sail twine you sent & a fine twine it is; tough, strong & smooth working. I used it for my 18th century Sea bags, ditty bags & sail bags. It was used for the hand laid grommets, the flat sail seam for the sides & rolled stitch for the bottom. I waxed it with the tar wax that I make.
Here are some pictures of the project.. feel free to use them.
