Hull # 54 joins the fleet
Wheeeooo! It sure is hot here in Louisiana. Maybe that’s why it took me so long to build my PD Racer. Actually it only took me about a week of building 2 to 3 hours a day but, I could have built it faster if it wasn’t so hot!
I had been
studying the www.pdracer.com website for
some time now. I had been wanting to build a small sailboat. I was hesitant to
start a PD Racer because I figured if I was going to build another boat I would
take my time and build something really nice, even if it was more expensive.
Then something happened. I think it was the fever. You know, the boat building
fever. It has several symptoms which are easily diagnosed, lying in bed at
night thinking of how the sail rig should look, bumping my wife off of the
computer so that I could see what other builders are doing on www.duckworksmagazine.com , etc.
I
could almost feel the wind in my face and see the strange look on the local
fisherman’s faces when I sailed past. Then I would go outside and see the kid’s
trampoline and swing set. Where was Daddy’s toy? No boat? No problem, guess I
would just have to go ahead and build something.
The PD Racer
started off as a few sheets of plywood and a few 2x4’s. Once I got started it
was easy to keep going as instant results cause immediate inspiration. This
boat is quick to build, easy to build, and according to many of the 50+ PD
Racers already built, easy to rig and sail. With PD Racers being built all over
the world for anywhere from $50 to $200, it doesn’t take much time or money to
become a part of this club of inperfectionists! Ahoy maties! The PD Pirate has
arrived…
