Here are some pictures of two boats I have built and am building right now. The first is a modified Toto. The bow compartment is waterproof. The hatch is made from a plastic lid and bowl I purchased at Dollar Tree. After cutting the bottom off the bowl, I attached it through the proper size hole in the bulkhead with 3M 5200 sealant. The beautiful model is my wife Deborah.

The second boat is a Bolger Micro. Assembling the bulkheads and the sides was much easier than I thought it would be due to the 1x2s screwed onto the bottom of the bulkheads (sailboat 1). This made lining up everything a piece of cake. I have opted for the self-draining cockpit as can be seen in picture 3. In picture 2 I am attaching the ½” BC SYP bottom. The sides are made from 3/8” luan that local homebuilders use for soffits. It passed the boiling test with flying colors. I recently bought some from another lumber yard which failed the boiling test. The finish on that plywood was much smoother and was supposed to be the same exterior glue. I am glassing the bottom up to the waterline with 10 oz. cloth and epoxy.
It is a really big boat. People are actually knocking on my door to ask what I am building. My neighbor, who knows that I am a minister, has asked if I know something about forty days of rain that may be coming. It took Noah 120 years to build the ark and I hope that this does not take that long. However, I have come to realize how long the sanding is going to take.
