Dory
Chuck:
Some pics of my new dory as it slowly comes together in our car port. This
is my first seriously crazy boat project, and I should point out two
unusual features: the fore and aft bouyancy tanks and the central thwart,
which is actually a lid covering over an space destined for ballast.
I'm hoping to use it for journeying down some of our local rivers. I
expect to row much of the time, but with the winds being generally in the
south west and the rivers running either north-south or east, I expect to
be able to run and broad reach with a small sail for some of it. Hence the
ballast - I'm hoping it will give this boat a chance of sailing at least a
little. Of course, there are many who would say this won't work...
We'll see. One of my biggest unanswered questions concerns re-entry
following a capsize...
